Our latest research examines the energy efficiency of commercial buildings across seven major UK cities. It highlights that 83% of buildings fall below the EPC B rating required to meet proposed 2030 regulations, emphasising the significant challenge of retrofitting properties and the lack of government clarity on energy efficiency standards.
Our response strongly supports no changes to non-domestic EPCs and highlights a range of challenges with the proposed changes to domestic EPCs. If the changes go ahead, we call for appropriate transitioning measures (including sufficient lead-in times and the “grandfathering” of existing EPCs) and ongoing engagement with the sector, particularly given the links to MEES.
What: We have submitted our response to the Call for Evidence on commercial rents in which the Government requests views on a series of options on the best way to withdraw or replace the moratorium on commercial lease evictions and the restrictions on the use of CRAR.
Our view: The moratoriums should be lifted in full at the end of June and an enhanced Code of Practice with adjudication by the courts should be the backstop where agreements cannot be reached.
New analysis published today by the British Property Federation (BPF) shows the total number of Build-to-Rent (BTR) homes either in planning, under construction or completed in the UK is up 15% between Q3 2021 and Q3 2022 from 209,313 to 240,202.
