The 2022 edition of ‘Who Lives in Build-to-Rent?’ developed in partnership with Dataloft, London First and the UKAA, is our third edition of the series and focuses on Build-to-Rent in London – including the provision of intermediate rented homes (affordable homes) in schemes across London.
This England wide 2022 edition builds on previous instalments to showcase our largest dataset yet. Developed in partnership with Dataloft, BusinessLDN and the UKAA, it has a spotlight on Single Family Housing BTR a rapidly growing sector.
The BPF has submitted its 2025 Spending Review Representation, highlighting the property sector’s vital role in economic growth, housing delivery and clean energy. We call on the Government to remove barriers to investment, boost institutional funding and embrace PropTech innovation to support a thriving industry that contributes £110bn annually and sustains 2.5m jobs.
We welcome the proposed new approach and support any measures which simplify and speed up the development process whilst protecting and restoring nature. Developers who want to use existing approaches, however, should be able to “opt out” of the new arrangements. Consultation with the sector will be key, including consultation on the design of the new developer contribution.
What: The Government have consulted on proposals to change the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) rules for mixed-property purchases and Multiple Dwellings Relief (MDR).
Our view: The Government must ensure that commercial property transactions involving residential property are not adversely impacted by changes to SDLT which are intended to tackle the behaviour of certain individual purchasers. Any changes must be targeted and proportionate.
