BPF Futures reaches membership milestone

BPF Futures, the British Property Federation’s (BPF) network of young leaders has a record 1,541 members, a 25% year-on-year increase. 2022 is a record year for the BPF Futures’ mentoring programme too, with 80 BPF Futures members given the opportunity to be mentored by some of our industry’s most experienced leaders when the 2022-23 programme commences in September.

The network, which brings together cross-industry professionals in the property sector to aid professional development and provide space to learn about and influence real estate policy, has grown rapidly since it began in 2017, representing over 300 companies across England and Scotland and bringing together young and diverse views from across the real estate sector.

The mentoring programme is part of ‘BPF Futures LAUNCHPAD’, an engagement framework designed to help young professionals network with each other, learn from experts, be mentored by senior professionals and have their say in the policy debate.

The 80 mentees were carefully assessed through the application process with candidates setting out their two-to-five-year career goals and the support they would want from a mentor. The information gathered – including any D&I preferences – is used to pair each candidate with mentors from senior leaders from across BPF member companies. Each pair is expected to meet at least four times between October and April.

BPF Futures’ members benefit from BPF-organised events throughout the year, providing networking opportunities, site visits and the chance to build relationships with the chief executives of tomorrow. This year events have taken place in London and Manchester, including site visits to Longharbour (Way of Life) and Watkin Jones schemes.

Isabelle Hease, Chair of BPF Futures, comments: “The BPF Futures network has such an important role to play in bringing people from across the country and the industry together. It helps to create connections between peers through its series of events and provides the next generation of talent with access to today’s senior leaders. It is really encouraging to see the number of members grow year-on-year, welcoming an increasingly diverse membership and a true reflection of tomorrow’s leaders.”

Membership of BPF Futures is open to anyone with fewer than 10 years’ experience in the property industry. Click here to find out how to join.
