UK real estate is a major player in the UK economy and fundamental to all parts of life – our workplaces, our homes and the places we come together to spend our leisure time.
Our sector has changed dramatically over the years and continues to evolve to meet changing needs and market conditions.
AREF, the BPF and IPF have a proud history of representing and supporting UK real estate – we’ve evolved with the sector and are looking to build on recent successes by taking a front footed opportunity to reset for the market of today. We have worked hard to ensure that our sector is seen by politicians as a critical partner in the delivery of growth and homes and seen this reflected in the current policy agenda – we need to cement our impact and build on it for the future health of the sector.

RE:UK Timeline
Following the announcement in November 2024 about merger discussions between AREF, BPF and IPF, we've been busy laying the groundwork for how RE:UK will operate and what it means for existing members of all three organisations. This has included extensive engagement with members and other key industry stakeholders. In June 2025, the Shadow Board, made up of representatives from the three organisations, agreed the plans for a member vote.
Voting
Voting will take place between July and August 2025 by members of AREF, BPF and IPF. A key contact in each organisation has been nominated and will be able to vote on behalf of their company. If you're unsure about who in your organisation has been given the vote, please contact our membership team who will be happy to assist.
Next Steps
If members agree to the plans to create RE:UK, further preparations will commence ahead of 2026, which will be a transition year for establishing the new body.
