The BPF has committed itself to creating a more diverse and inclusive real estate sector.
We launched our statement of principles to support a diverse and inclusive real estate industry [link to statement of principles on ‘policies’ page] at the BPF President's Lunch 2017. We work with a number of partners to work with to promote diversity and inclusion in real estate:
We want to work with our partners to change the culture of the real estate sector so that an inclusive culture in which everyone is valued is at the heart of corporate behaviours and to support the development of new skills within the industry.
We will also work with public sector partners and others to open the property sector up to recruitment from a wider range of socio-economic backgrounds, and to share best practice.
We have launched our own network for junior professionals in real estate, BPF Futures, to support the industry’s young talent to learn and understand the wider environment within which the industry operates.
Public-private partnerships will be an integral part of their careers and in order to foster understanding and trust across the public and private sectors we announced in November 2019 that we would open up BPF Futures membership to the brightest and best of the public sector, creating a unique community working together to find solutions to some of the great challenges of our age through our new online platform – MyBPF.
The BPF published its initial action plan for Redefining Real Estate in November 2019 [link] and will produce an annual report measuring the positive social impact our members deliver, starting in November 2020.
