BPF comments on the Mansion House speech 2024
Following the 2024 Mansion House speech, our Chief Executive Melanie Leech said:
'Public and private sector pension consolidation is a positive step to boost investment in the UK’s infrastructure and built environment. Larger schemes should be able to make bigger and more cost-effective investments, and Government must ensure that these include UK real estate opportunities. There is enormous potential from institutional investors to build everything from renewable energy to social housing – it just needs the right regulatory framework and steer from Government to be unleashed. We’ve been talking about boosting pension fund investment into UK homes and communities for many years – it’s now time to make delivery match ambition'.
