BPF Futures Mentoring Programme

The BPF Futures mentoring programme, launched in 2021, connects young-in-career property professionals with senior peers and leaders across the industry. It supports the personal development of junior professionals and, at the same time, allows senior industry professionals to support and learn from their junior colleagues.

The scheme also supports the property industry’s mission to foster a stronger culture of equality, where ultimately a more diverse range of property professionals reach our industry’s boardrooms and senior decision-making positions in their careers.

Over 370 individuals have participated in the programme, which runs from September to May.

FAQs

When can I sign up? Applications for both mentors and mentees to join our next cohort are now closed. Applications will reopen in June 2025.

How many places are there? We have approximately 100 places each year for mentees.

Who can apply? Any BPF Futures member from Scotland and England are welcome to apply as a mentee. Anyone with a BPF or SPF corporate membership can apply as a mentor. Please note, we cannot guarantee a mentoring match.

Where will the mentoring meetings take place? You can meet with your mentor via a phone or video call, in person, or a mixture of these.

What will we talk about? You can discuss any work-related issues that you may want to explore. The guidance pack, sent at the beginning of the programme, suggests topics. You might want to focus each meeting on a particular issue such as building confidence, expanding your network across the industry, career mapping, or making an impact.

What if things go wrong? If there are any problems with your mentoring, for instance, it it’s too hard to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet, or you don’t feel that your match is quite the right person for you then the BPF Futures team will help. Simply email futures@bpf.org.uk as soon as possible to ask for support.
