Faster, Better, Greener – delivering the National Infrastructure Strategy through NSIPs reform!
Bookings are still being taken for this year’s NIPA Annual Conference.
Chaired by Steven Norris, Chair of NIPA’s Council, two half day sessions will take place on the mornings of Wednesday 7 July and Thursday 8 July.
This year’s conference, organised with input from MHCLG and The Planning Inspectorate, is a unique opportunity to discuss and inform the unfolding reform agenda for the NSIPs regime. That agenda is rapidly gaining momentum following last autumn’s National Infrastructure Strategy and to an extent will also feed into the Government’s Planning Bill expected this Autumn.
In particular, the conference is an opportunity to provide evidence to government relating to aspects of the regime’s workings where reforms are being suggested. This evidence will be invaluable to officials working on the reforms and in giving their advice and recommendations to ministers.
The conference this year is therefore taking on a very different format than in previous years, not only because it is being held virtually but because it is coming at a very important time as the Government considers NSIPs regime (and other planning) reforms. Those reforms are therefore the sole subject for the conference. We have engaged with MHCLG and the Inspectorate to develop a programme which is intended to allow all those attending to get involved, with pre and post conference NIPA activities complementing the discussions on the two days of the conference itself.
