Over the last few months, our sector has been hugely affected by policy decisions, both broad and supportive (such as the staff furlough scheme and government-backed loan schemes), and otherwise (such as the moratorium on landlord action for non-payment of rent).
Since the original joint BPF/CREFC Europe webinar on this subject in April, policy dialogue has continued, but progress on targeted measures to support our sector has been limited. Now that full national lockdown is an increasingly distant memory and as some of the most powerful supportive measures are ending, it is a good time to ask what shape the commercial property market is in and how lenders will react.
Our panel will review the policy and market landscape, six months into the pandemic:
- What are we seeing in the real estate market in terms of rent collections and discussions between landlords and tenants, as the September quarter day approaches?
- How have policy measures affected the real estate market, and what can we expect over the coming months?
- What is the likely endgame for accumulated rent arrears, and how are commercial leases changing?
- How are the attitudes of lenders evolving, both in relation to their existing books and for new lending?
- What are we expecting over the coming months in terms of the investment market and debt liquidity?
We are delighted to be bringing back the same group that spoke at our April webinar.
