The local election this May produced a number of changes – some expected, some less so – to London’s political landscape, with no less than six boroughs changing party control. Since then, the councils have been holding their Annual General Meetings, confirming new Leaders, Cabinets and Committees, offering us valuable clues as to their next steps.
At this online special briefing, BPF’s Director of Policy (Real Estate) Ian Fletcher will be joined by LCA Partner & Managing Director, Insight Jenna Goldberg and her team for a presentation and discussion outlining the contours of this new political landscape.
Through a short presentation, followed by a Q&A, we will
- analyse the “big picture” of the parties’ electoral performance
- consider the people now in charge of London’s local planning authorities
- discuss the policies they have pledged to deliver, and the priorities they will be forced to address
- and ultimately, unpick the implications of all this political change for planning and development in the capital
Our discussion will focus on the boroughs which have changed party control, but also touch on other areas, where change may have been more subtle – but is, in many cases, no less significant.
