There are currently an estimated 12.9 million people over 65 in the UK, this is expected to increase to 16.9 million by 2040.
In order to relieve some of the pressure on an already struggling health, social care and housing system, the UK government needs to prioritise the development of suitable housing for our ageing population.
In April 2023, the government announced the Older People's Housing Taskforce, a significant step forward for the sector. Our latest report, in partnership with the British Property Association (BPF) sets out further recommendations we believe are key to delivering more seniors housing.
