Event Details
As the deadline for the implementation of mandatory biodiversity net gain (BNG) rapidly approaches, this webinar will bring together policymakers and practitioners to share their insights and experience on delivering BNG.
BNG is an approach to development that aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state than it was beforehand. Under the Environment Act 2021, a new mandatory planning condition requires a biodiversity gain plan to be submitted and approved before development can commence. As part of this, the developer needs to demonstrate that they will deliver biodiversity net gain of at least 10% and can maintain this for 30 years or more. The gain can be delivered on-site, off-site, by purchasing BNG credits from Natural England, or by a combination of these.
The new mandatory BNG requirements, with some exemptions, are due to come into force in January 2024.
You can read more about BNG here.
This webinar will bring together policymakers, expert advisers and developers and is an opportunity to hear directly from, and ask questions of, those involved in the design and delivery of BNG.
