Following the July 2024 elections, British Property Federation (BPF) Futures is holding a joint event with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) London Young Planners. The event will cover the medium to long-term future of the planning system, with a focus on amplifying the voices of young planners within the sector and emerging property professionals.

Hosted by Deloitte LLP, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from an esteemed panel, followed by a chance to network with members of BPF Futures and RTPI London Young Planners.

The event will begin at 6pm. 

Upon booking RTPI members are asked to quote “RTPI” under “Booking Reference”.

 

Alix De Nercy

Assistant Director, Real Assets Advisory, Deloitte LLP

Alix is an Assistant Director in the Real Assets Advisory. She is a fully chartered member of the RTPI with just under 10 years industry experience providing tailored strategic advice to clients from both the private and the public sector. With a background in town planning and urban design, Alix describes herself as a built environment professional and placemaking enthusiast. She enjoys collaborative working across multi-disciplinary teams and working through the implications and applications of planning policies on regeneration.

Claire Dutch

Partner, Head of UK Real Estate, Ashurst LLP; Chair, BPF Planning Committee

Claire Dutch is a Partner and Head of UK Real Estate at international law firm Ashurst LLP. She is also Co-Head of the firm's Planning and Environment Group.

Claire has been described in the legal directories as 'amongst the top planning lawyers in the country' and an 'extraordinary talent'. For over 20 years, she has advised the public and private sector on some of the country’s most notable and iconic development and infrastructure projects for The Crown Estate, Ballymore, British Land, Berkeley, Lendlease and many others.

Claire is the Chair of the British Property Federation’s Planning Committee. In 2020, she was the only lawyer to give evidence as a planning expert to DLUHC's parliamentary select committee on planning reform.

Claire was awarded 'Planning Lawyer of the Year 2022' by Best Lawyers for her work in planning in London.

David Mountain

Research Manager, Royal Town Planning Institute

Dr David Mountain is a Research Manager at the Royal Town Planning Institute, and an Honorary Research Fellow in Planning at the University of Manchester. He completed his PhD at the University of Manchester in 2022, which was titled 'A Critical History of Urban Regeneration in British Architecture and Planning, 1960s-80s.' He has also lectured and taught widely in planning and architecture.

Kathryn McAllister

Chartered Principal Planning Officer, Be First Regeneration Limited

Kathryn is a Principal Development Management Officer at Be First, a subsidiary company of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. She has almost five years public sector planning experience and has played an instrumental role in the regeneration of the Gascoigne Estate. Kathryn strives to ensure that the needs of the residents of Barking and Dagenham are met, and opportunities for investment and regeneration maximised. She was awarded a ‘Rising Star’ recognition on the BAME Planning Network Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Recognition List 2023 and Commended London Young Planner of the Year 2024 for her commitment to ensuring the delivery of high-quality developments across the Estate were met.
