BPF Spotlight Series: Living Sectors Council

💡For this week’s BPF Spotlight, we spoke with Assistant Director Theo Plowman to get the latest on the BPF Living Sectors Council. Read what Theo had to say below:

❓So, what’s the Living Sectors Council all about?

🗣 The Living Sectors Council is the go-to forum within the BPF for shaping residential policy. It provides strategic oversight for the BPF’s work in the living sectors, steering sector-specific committees and driving discussions on key priorities.

The council also tackles broader issues like rent controls and the sector’s environmental footprint, ensuring these align with the BPF’s overall goals while promoting collaboration across committees and leadership.

❓Who’s on the council and who are its key stakeholders?

🗣The council is made up of owners, investors and operators of residential assets, focusing on senior industry leaders who represent the diversity of the BPF’s membership. Key advisors and agents also take part, offering critical insights and expertise to the group.

❓What’s currently keeping the council busy?

🗣Right now, we’re concentrating on engaging with the Government about their upcoming Housing Strategy. We’re also mapping out next year’s research priorities to strengthen our engagement work. The hot topics include tackling challenges around housing viability and finding ways to unlock greater housing delivery.

❓Who should think about joining the council?

🗣We’re calling on living sector investors and property companies to join us and help amplify our shared voice. By becoming a member, you’ll gain access to thought-provoking guest speakers and play a key role in shaping the BPF’s living sectors policy agenda.
