A New Era for Real Estate Professionals - RE:Futures

Back to Our Work

As we approach the formal creation of Real Estate:UK, the merger of AREF, BPF, and IPF represents a bold step forward for the industry. Alongside this merger, all three organisations’ next‑generation programmes are being brought together under one unified banner: RE:Futures.

The level of interest in shaping this vision has been extraordinary. We received over 100 applications for a limited number of committee positions. Selection was guided by three principles:

  • Equal representation from each of the three founding organisations.
  • Geographical diversity, with committee members from London, Manchester, Scotland, Leeds and other regions.
  • A balanced mix of experience, from those in the first five years of their career to future leaders with up to 15 years’ experience.

The result is a pair of committees filled with energy, ambition and fresh thinking exactly what the industry needs. The committees will be overseen by a Steering Committee chaired by Jo Jackson.

An Evening of Insight, Leadership and Shared Purpose

The meeting was fully seated and jointly chaired by Alex Davies, Chair of Future Leaders, and Grace Pinault, Chair of Early Careers, who guided the discussion with clarity and enthusiasm.

We also heard from Paul Richards, CEO of AREF, and Sue Forster, CEO of the IPF, who provided an update on the progress of the merger and shared reflections on what this new combined body will mean for the industry. While our Chief Executive Melanie Leech was unable to attend as she was in Scotland at the SPF Conference, her support for the programme was warmly acknowledged.

The session covered:

  • Governance and Structure - committee members were informed of their roles, responsibilities and the governance framework that will support RE:Futures as it grows.
  • Vision and Opportunity - rather than relying solely on traditional formats, the committees were encouraged to bring forward new ideas and innovative approaches across networking, mentorship, hackathons, roundtables, conferences and more.
  • Culture and Enjoyment - A key theme of the evening was the importance of collaboration, enjoyment and building a genuine sense of community. After the formal discussion, members stayed on for networking and nibbles, creating space to connect informally and build momentum for the exciting work ahead.
