The Retail Board shapes the BPF's policy on retail, leisure and F&B property issues and provides an authoritative voice for the retail property sector, to influence national, regional, and local government on the benefits of thriving retail places. Current areas of focus include reforming commercial leasing legislation, making retail property more environmentally sustainable and reforming business rates so that it better supports retail places. The Committee is made up of senior leaders in the retail property sector and its key stakeholders include the Ministry for Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG), HM Treasury and the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
