The Government has promised private rented sector reform, but its White Paper has been delayed until 2022. The Federation set out its position in the Autumn of last year. The White Paper promises to cover much ground – a possible landlord register, lifetime deposits, compulsory redress, possibly a new Housing Court, and most controversially, the abolition of section 21 ‘no fault’ grounds for possession. Our expert panel will debate whether we are heading towards a better private rented sector or taking the first steps on a slippery slope towards discouraging investment, and a return to policies that damaged the PRS in the 20th century.
